OverviewFirst published in 1922, Mary E. McDonough's God's Plan of Redemption lays out a comprehensive outline of God's plan for the redemption of man. Written for teachers of Bible classes and seeking to meet the fatal drift from the avowed faith of our forefathers, McDonough's presentation of The Gospel from a Biological Standpoint reveals a deep understanding of God's Word. Rather than directly addressing the challenges of her day, McDonough's setting forth of positive truth concerning Eternal Life, Sin, Man's tripartite being, the Fall of Man, Christ's work on Calvary, and Redemption executed, appropriated, and manifested gives God's Plan of Redemption a timeless quality. This short volume, when accompanied by thoughtful prayer and careful study of the Word, will no doubt be an excellent help to any seeker, minister, or Bible teacher looking to equip themselves to present the great truths of God's Plan of Redemption to their own generation. Foreword by the Author The pernicious teaching of evolution in our schools and colleges, and the higher criticism of our modern pulpits, are responsible for the fatal drift from the avowed faith of our forefathers. This alarming condition calls for new methods of presentation of the truths of God's Written Word. Experience has demonstrated the wisdom of teaching the fundamentals from the biological standpoint, thereby counteracting in a logical, convincing manner the destructive work of infidel teachers, and saving the young from their subtle snares. The desirability of presenting these vital truths in a comprehensive manner, with due regard to the unity and correlation of subjects, has also been considered in the preparation of this course of Bible Study; but the treatment of the various subjects does not claim to be exhaustive. Further study of each subject will repay the Bible student and is strongly advised. Suggestions in reference to such study will be found throughout this course. It will be observed throughout these studies, that Eternal Life is presented from the biological standpoint instead of the etymological. While the best authorities agree that aionios may be used with reference to the past as well as to the future, yet this word does not clearly reveal the nature of the Life that is bestowed at the instant of regeneration. The term Uncreated Life actually defines the Life of God in Christ Jesus, that is shared by the believer. A careful reading of John 1:1 and 1 John 1:1-2 corroborates this statement by declaring Eternal Life to be the Uncreated Word who was with God the Father, and who was God. Mary E.
