OverviewLiterature, as a phenomenon typical of the sphere of the imponderable, of the artistic, is often configured as a possible alternative for dialog between the individual and their immediate reality, with the role of the individual including both the author and the reader, through a relationship that is sometimes based on interpretation, contestation, reconfiguration, recreation or even as a strategy of sublimation - often the only possible way of being in the world - to position oneself in the face of a daily life so contrary to the vital force, to the organicity of any living being, perhaps of human nature - mechanisms of escapism from oppressive and dehumanizing experiences, a more than powerful and efficient weapon of combat. It was in this day-to-day life that Augustine of Hippo and José Saramago discovered the raw material for their writings. This paper sets out to investigate how authors who are so far apart from each other became forceful interpreters of their realities, translators and voices of such particular worldviews, bringing their texts closer together by studying the dialogical nature that guides their discourses, in order to understand the interweaving of statements, the intersection of texts.
