OverviewMy journey back to the black church happened once I realized that God's church is already multi-ethnic. I moved from the black church during a time that I was hungry for deeper teaching and expositional preaching, not yet having realized that God has people everywhere in every culture, teaching his unadulterated word, including in the black church. However, I found the deeper teaching I had been longing for at a Reformed Baptist Church that happened to be predominantly comprised of my white brothers and sisters. My new church actually had people from almost every nation, and I was convinced that this was how it was supposed to be, that is, until 2020, the year of COVID-19, the presidential election of Joe Biden, and the murder of George Floyd. Our very different responses to these events helped expose not only our cultural differences but also the vast differences in our perspectives on social and political issues, which left me feeling as if I were trying to wear a coat that didn't fit.
