Overview

The author interprets the relation to Heidegger's ontology to theology in terms of a correlation. He develops his inquiry from several different perspectives: a brief overview of Heidegger's thought; an overview of the traditional connections of God and being, between ontology and theology, and of the necessity of the connection; an overview of the theological reception of Heidegger's work; and finally a discussion of the current situation in theology.

Jeff Owen Prudhomme is a Vice President and Fellow of the Interactivity Foundation, which works to engage citizens in the exploration and development of possibilities for public policy through small group discussions. Prudhomme taught philosophy and religious studies at Wesleyan College (Georgia), where he received the Quillian Award for excellence in teaching. Prior to joining the Interactivity Foundation he served as the Director of Frostburg State University's Institute for Service-Learning, an Institute dedicated to situating student learning within an expansive and active sense of citizenship. As a Post-Doctoral Fellow for Critical Thinking at James Madison University he taught philosophy and participated in the revision of the University's general education program. He also taught a graduate seminar at the University of Virginia and served for two years as a public school teacher.
