Welcome to the Nightvault! You recently veered off script and became self-aware. Congratulations. This will complicate everything... Goblin Peon No. 49 is a nobody. A clueless NPC at the very bottom of the dungeon's food chain. But then his script glitches and he wakes up, starts asking questions. Nobody likes a goblin who asks questions. Soon he gets a character class, attributes, a user interface. He even gets a name: ""Rook."" Stalked by the god-like ""System"" and guided (sort of) by a giant, pot-bellied rat with delusions of grandeur, Rook stumbles onto a quest: recover three memory shards with the power to turn an NPC into a player character. Along the way, he'll run a deadly gauntlet. Goblin-sized blenders. Malevolent (and chatty) ancient artifacts. Demons repurposed as transportation hubs. Hallucinatory giant mushrooms. And trolls with a very specific skincare routine. If he wins, Rook will become a player character in a world designed to kill him. And if he loses... well, some outcomes are worse than death.
