Goblin

Overview

From the talented creators of bestselling TROLL, comes a wonderfully funny and powerful story about the magic of connecting with others. Deep in the bog, where the swampland was stark and shadows would linger long after the dark... In slime, grime and soil, in ambers and ash... Goblin was searching for trinkets and trash. A broken old clock and a rusted propeller, a whistle, a thistle, a busted umbrella. No bucket too rusty. No pebble too small. Goblin was greedy. He wanted it all. Goblin has everything. Trinkets and treasures, nick-nacks galore. . . and yet, it's never enough to fill the void deep inside. When a band of unlikely companions turn up and Goblin begins to FEEL something he's never felt before (is this what friendship feels like?!) things start to take a turn... Could it be that this connection, not possessions, is what Goblin really needs?

Author Information

Frances Stickley grew up in Nottingham and Norwich, where she spent much of her time making up poems and dressing up her dog. She is a trained children's literacy specialist and a primary school teacher who is happiest when she is covered in paint or stuck in a book. In 2017, Frances was the winner of the Bloomsbury and National Literacy Trust short story prize. She lives with her family and a big-eared dog called Babbage in the UK. When she is not writing, you'll probably find her in a forest playing dragons with her daughters.
