We all hear that we can be anything we want to be, but how often can you see yourself doing all the things you want? Black girls dream big too, and this children's book showcases 20 Black girls doing various activities. It's a poetic anthem that encourages every Black girl to be authentically themselves and 100 percent of who they are becoming. This is a beautiful book with a message which all children should receive. We all have one life to live, one chance to experience life and one world to share while we live it. Every child should experience this life with the enthusiastic support from our society to experience it to its fullest potential. Given our society this is sorely lacking for most. This is a great book for your child to see themselves in and a wonderful bit of poetry to accompany that experience. - Blake Barr My two sons are both white presenting, and we have no trouble at all running into books, shows, etc. where they see themselves represented. My hope is for black girls and all other underrepresented youths to have that same level of access to see hope and opportunity for themselves within media. This book is an entertaining and beautiful step forward toward that goal. Also, good for short attention spans as each page is more of a poem versus a paragraph of text. - Nick Watkins Full of affirmations and representation. It is a perfect reminder that we all are more than enough! - Donte Felder I love this book! Black girls and Black women are often typecast despite our aspirations and abilities. This book illustrates the diversity that exists within our community, and encourages Black girls to explore their interests. Hale A fun easy read for everyone. My granddaughter enjoyed the poetic writing style and the wonderful pictures. She identified with some of the girls in the pictures because she has done that activity. But with the great pictures she could see herself doing the other activities as well. Very encouraging! - C.S. I love the look and feel of this book. Each individual girl expresses herself in a way that is authentically her. I am a firm believer that seeing is believing, and every little black girl that reads this anthem, will see that they can be anything they want to be, and do anything they want to do.
