Born in 1943 in Gloucester, fifty yards from Kingsholm Rugby Ground, Alfred Lord Tension spent many years in the brewing industry, mainly working in logistics. He retired after a serious car accident in April 2000, and began acting the following year. He has appeared in TV, films and stage plays and is the joint founder of a company that tries to use 'mature' actors.
