Overview

This glossary, compiled by the Council of Europe's Terminology Office, contains over 2500 terms used in haematology and blood transfusion fields. Its contents have been taken from documents and publications provided by the Select Committee of Experts on Quality Assurance in Blood Transfusion Services, including compendia of texts, reports and relevant Council of Europe recommendations. Several terms found in the bilingual reports of the World Health Organisation (WHO) on the subject have also been added. This work covers an area of terminology which has hitherto been largely overlooked and should be welcomed by translators and specialists alike, for whom it is primarily intended.
