OverviewThis text addresses and contrasts several key aspects of Canada's past and future. It first sets the stage by reviewing evidence on the extent to which globalization has altered the scope and salience of nation states. It then deals with the implications for domestic policies, and finally with international policies. Throughout the work, John Helliwell emphasizes well-being as an explicit focus for research and for public policies. He concludes that there is ample scope for countries like Canada to have independent national and international policies, and considers a number of policy options. The volume surveys a broad range of empirical work but it is not technical so it should be accessible to a general audience. Full Product DetailsAuthor: John F.
