OverviewAs major strategic changes sweep the world, the international role of SMEs (small and medium enterprises) becomes more significant. The globalization of economic activity affects the development of SMEs in a number of ways. For some, it creates new opportunities for expansion and growth, a source of job creation, while for a much larger group it raises new competitive challenges and threats from abroad. This two-volume study examines some of the factors that impede the international competitiveness of SMEs, and what strategies SMEs have adopted in order to internationalize.
