Moving to South Africa in his late teens, he subsequently spent his career in the corporate world, holding senior positions in a number of countries across the African continent. In 2017 he and his wife, Belinda, immigrated to Canada, settling in Vancouver. In 2020 they moved to Nova Scotia, purchasing an inn in the picturesque Digby area.
