Common figure skating moves are demonstrated by the cartoon character ""Blue Dude,"" color-coded for easy reference (red for right, and lavender for left). Diagrams show the basic movements required to complete footwork (3-turns, brackets, rockers, counters, mohawks, and choctaws), moves in the field (spirals, Spread Eagles, Biellmanns, Ina Bauers), spins (scratch, sit, camel, layback), and jumps (salchow, loop, toe loop, flip, lutz, and axel). These diagrams provide a convenient reference for the science of ice skating. An award-winning science student and musician as a youth and young adult, M. Schottenbauer, Ph.D., studied music, physics, mathematics, and liberal arts at the university before going on to earn a doctorate in psychology. Dr. Schottenbauer held a position as a Research Assistant Professor, and currently works as an independent educational consultant.
