Nach dem Studium der Chemie Promotion 1974 und Habilitation 1980 an der Universität Heidelberg. 1981 - 1982 als DFG-Stipendiat und ""visiting professor"" an der Cornell University, Ithaca, USA. 1987 apl. Professor in Heidelberg, seit 1995 Lehrstuhlinhaber Physikalische Chemie an der Universität Rostock. Andreas Heintz ist Autor zahlreicher wissenschaftlicher Publikationen und Buchbeiträge und hat bisher zwei Bücher veröffentlicht.
