Photos from Glacier park around Apgar, West Glacier, Lake McDonald, Trail of the Cedars, and Avalanche Lake. The west side of Glacier Park is special. It's a place of tranquil lakes and streams, of deer and bunchberry, of water carved rocks, moss and pine needles. In the evening, once all the tour busses are done and the visitors have retired for the day, it's a peaceful place. You can watch bats catching insects over Lake McDonald or children wading in the cold water. This is the time to wander the trails around Apgar and visit the book and souvenir stores. Sometimes, if you are very lucky, alphorn players come down to the shore of Lake McDonald and serenade those who come down to listen with music of the Swiss mountains.
