Despite our tendency to see missionaries through lenses of exoticism or hagiography, much of their attention was taken up by everyday concerns - money, program development, shipping, travel, health, networking, and interpersonal relationships. Joseph Knotts' letters are interesting reading for anyone interested in a better picture of the day-to-day life of Western missionaries at the turn of the 20thcentury. Dr. David W.
