His Eye of the Beholder was the first comic strip to appear regularly in the New York Times and is now syndicated nationally to alternative papers. Rolling Stone named him Hot Comic Artist in 1995. In 1979 Kuper co-founded the political comix magazine World War 3 Illustrated with Seth Tobocman and he remains on the editorial board to this day.
