Overview""Ginevra"" is a historical novel that originates from the proceedings of a trial in 1603 kept at the State Archives of Modena. The style leads back to the era and its 'speech', to the reflections of an ordinary woman, of the people, who could neither read nor write. Emotions, fears, and reflections are echoed in documented facts and descriptions of physical and psychological torture. The novel intends to tell and reconstruct the existence and drama of a simple woman who takes, after centuries, a new meaning by thus shedding light on everyday life and on a phenomenon, still partly current, of accusation, discrediting and exemplary punishment of women who remain isolated, on the margins. The story is tinged with a touch of supernatural that plays on situations at the border between reality, suggestion and fiction.
