Overview

The Boys' Ranch was and is a residential treatment center for wayward and delinquent boys. The stories take place between 1973 and 1985, the time I was a counselor there. It seemed no matter how much time passed, certain of the boys stories were burned into my memory. This book puts those memories on a printed page. It is not a fictional ghost story although some of them have undoubtedly passed through the mortal veil as they were not inclined to live life on the safe side. It is an account of their struggles, triumphs and failures, their failures oftentimes having a haunting quality, hence the book title. The Other Stories are an account of interesting, funny, boisterous, tumultuous and sometimes sad characters I have run across in my life. It is all of their stories.

Author Information

Upon graduating for Eastern Washington University in 1972, with a bachelors degree in psychology, I sought a place to use my education. I ended up at the Boys Ranch, located in Spokane Washington where I worked for twelve years. I decided I needed a job with higher pay and better benefits and got on with the state of Washington as a social worker and eventually a program manager. I worked there 30 years before retiring from the 8 to 5 world to become an author, an investor, a musician and I am sure I will think of some more things I have always wanted to do.
