Lulu gets a companion rescue budgie named Lola Bird. Based on a painful first encounter with the bird, Lulu judges that Lola Bird is mean and so pushes her away. In reality, Lulu and Lola Bird could not be more different in the way that they behave and express their feelings - happy, sad, scared, playful, angry, rejected, homesick, worried, lonely, joyful, safe. Although getting along with Lola Bird may seem impossible, Lulu soon learns that empathy is key to building this friendship.
