In particular, the Viennese legal theory school founded by Hans Kelsen and the Austrian School of Economics, which at that time primarily represented by Ludwig Mises enjoyed a high international reputation. This volume examines the history of the faculty in the period 1918-1938 in terms of science and social history. Because the fate of individual career paths as well as entire academic schools was closely related to political developments and the personalities that shaped faculty life. The introduction of the study of women and the importance of anti-Semitism for faculty events are therefore also discussed, e.g. the beginnings of criminology or the civil law teachings of Oskar Pisko.
