Author Information

April L. Kameka is the author of Grasshopper Stew (2024) and Georgie's Nighttime Adventure (2025). A lifelong writer who was first published as a teenager in the National Library of Poetry. After retiring from a medical career, April returns to writing with children's stories-inspired by tales told to her nephew. April has been following mountain gorillas like Georgie since the 1980s and actively sponsors orphan gorilla care and habitat preservation in Virunga, Africa. Through her stories, she hopes to inspire families to help protect these amazing animals for future generations. When not writing, April enjoys reading, creating art, kayaking, biking, and travel. She resides on a lakeside estate north of Toronto, Canada.
