Silke Reuther, studierte Kunstgeschichte in Hamburg und Marburg. 1994 promovierte sie über den Maler Jacob Gensler. Als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin der Hamburger Kunsthalle war sie in Projekte zur hamburgischen Kunstgeschichte eingebunden. Parallel arbeitet sie seit zehn Jahren im Bereich Provenienzrecherche u.a. für die Kunstsammlung Philipp F. Reemtsma.
