Gentle and her friends from the orphanage are going on a picnic! However there are frogs, snakes, and spiders all around outside. Gentle's friends are scared of these creepy crawly critters, but Gentle knows that if you treat nature with kindness and respect, there is no need to fear it. Her friends are not so easily convinced. When she and her friends come across a bat injured in the wilderness next to their picnic, will Gentle be able to convince her friends to go get help for the poor creature? The Gentle and Friends Book Series is about Gentle and her friends, Echo, Striker, Kota, and Hannah going on everyday adventures in a magical world. Living in the magical world of Evoria where dragons, fairies, and talking cats exist, Gentle and her friends find adventures in the most unlikely of places. Gentle is the kind quiet purple girl with horns and a fish tail who loves nature and exploring outside. Echo is the brave and loyal half dragon girl who always sticks up for her friends. Striker is the strong but silent minotaur boy who is super competitive and into all kinds of sports. Kota is the winged, soft-spoken boy who loves to bake, draw, paint, and make music. Hannah is the most human-like out of all the friends, but she loves tea parties, having fashion shows, and hanging out with her friends. Follow Gentle and her friends as they explore their magical fantasy world in an everyday manner that we in the real world can relate to.

Jessica Wright is an author-illustrator who is inspired by fantasy and science fiction. Growing up she played dungeons and dragons with her friends, and ended up falling in love with many of the worlds she explored whilst on daring quests. Today she explores more fantastical worlds in her writing, while also exploring deep themes of family, loneliness, mental health, and disability. In her children's picture books she illustrates fun characters that all look different from one another, exploring themes of friendship, exploration, and imagination. The Gentle and Friends Book Series consists of characters pulled from one of her dungeons and dragons games, with an innocence and style that all families can enjoy whether they are into fantasy or not. Jessica grew up as a military kid throughout the United States of America, and has explored much of the country as a child. Those adventures and explorations of an everyday child inspire her to tell more stories with Gentle and her friends.
