Gay America: Struggle for Equality

Overview

Profusely illustrated, this book discusses the people and movements that made gay history in America, from Victorian times until the present. (Colonial times are briefly touched on). First person accounts give the book an air of 'you were there'. From the Gay 20s to the Kinsey Study to the McCarthy witch hunts to the Beat generation to Stonewall to disco to Aids to gay marriage and families, this overview gives a balanced look at how gay men and women have lived, worked and played for the past 125 years.
