He completed his high school education in Kartal Anadolu Imam-Hatip high school (2003). In 2004, he moved to Çanakkale and graduated from the Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Faculty of Theology (2008). In the same year, he began Marmara University for graduate education. He completed his master's thesis entitled ""Inclination Towards Shī‘īsm In Hadīth Rāwīs"" (2010). Topgül worked as a researcher in the ""Centre for Islamic Studies"" (ISAM) (2012-2013). Then he was appointed as a research assistant at Marmara University Faculty of Theology (2013). He holds a Ph.D. from Marmara University, and his doctoral dissertation was entitled ""Early Shī‘īte Ilm al-Rijāl: The Case of al-Kashshī"" (2015).
