OverviewThis collection of papers was initially presented at the Gas Cycling Seminar held at the Institut Francais du Petrole (IFP) on May 14, 1998. They were written by a variety of specialists from different companies with the aim of optimizing the entire production, processing and re-injection loop through an integrated approach. New operating methods and novel technologies, which may become standard practice for the industry in the next millennium, are described and their main features are highlighted. Gas cycling is not a new concept. So far, however, its range of applications has been rather limited. For many years, one of the most significant applications was to maximize the production of condensate while recycling residual methane. While this still remains important today, the conceptual and applications approach considered in this book is much broader in range. It covers all situations in which gas is split into two fractions: one to be exported, and the other to be re-injected underground. This new approach is now acclaimed as being of great interest to all gas field operators.
