Galloping for Joy

Overview

Life at the College continues on its customary way - or does it? Perhaps things are reaching a crisis point for Doug, who may feel his time is up; even for Parslow, who is not getting on with his chairman as he used to. In the midst of it all, the College must do battle with a manipulative radio personality, the dreaded Smithers. In this third part of The College series, John Goddard pursues the devious and deeply personal lives of his characters. Maybe there are winners - or maybe not. Retired English teacher Goddard shows his perceptive understanding of school politics and of wider social issues, but above all, he shows us his love of his characters.

Author Information

John Goddard worked as an English teacher for many years in Australia and, for one year, in England. His love of literature urged him to 'give it a go', and two novels set in the College (Conversations, With Clocks, and Smoke Gets In Your Eyes) were the result. This novel completes The College series. He has also written a murder mystery, The Pool of Siloam, set in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney where he lives. He is now retired from teaching and spends lots of time with his family and his church, walking with his dog and reading.
