Fungal Eye Infections: Epidemiology, Diagnosis and Treatment

Overview

Fungal Eye Infections: Epidemiology, Diagnosis and Treatment offers an in-depth and forward-looking exploration of one of the most challenging areas in ocular infectious disease. Bringing together the expertise of ophthalmologists, scientists, and medical mycologists, this volume offers a multidisciplinary perspective on the epidemiology, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, and management of both established and emerging fungal infections of the eye.  Each chapter follows a structured format, beginning with an overview and discussion of epidemiology, followed by sections on diagnosis, treatment, and concluding remarks. The content covers fungal infections involving the eyelids, conjunctiva, lacrimal sac, cornea (keratitis), intraocular structures (endophthalmitis and choroiditis), as well as orbital and neuro-ophthalmic fungal infections. The book also addresses the growing challenge of antifungal resistance and highlights the expanding role of artificial intelligence in enhancing diagnostic accuracy and patient management.  Written in a clear, concise, and clinically oriented style, this book is designed to serve as an essential reference for ophthalmologists, infectious disease specialists, microbiologists, and medical mycologists. Its unique integration of clinical and research insights makes it an indispensable resource for understanding, diagnosing, and managing the full spectrum of fungal eye infections.
