S.K. BASU, D.Sc., Professor Emeritus (Hon.) at Pune Institute of Engineering and Technology (formerly known as Govt. College of Engineering, Pune), Pune. Earlier (1959-61), he worked in the Machine Tools Research Institute (ENIMS), Moscow, as UNESCO Fellow. He has also served with the distinction as Chair-Professor (Tribology), IIT Delhi and Director at Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute, Durgapur. He has about 150 technical papers to his credit published in many reputed national and international journals. A recipient of AIMTDR's awards (twice) and NRDC awards (thrice), Professor Basu was conferred at AIMTDR's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2000, for his contribution to research and teaching. He is the author of six engineering books and has a number of patents to his credit. S.N. SENGUPTA, Ph.D., is Professor and Head of Mechanical Engineering Department, Dr. B.C. Roy Engineering College, Durgapur. He has over 44 years of teaching experience in such institutes as IIT Kharagpur, National Institute of Technology, Durgapur, and R.E. College, Silchar. His teaching and research areas include Machine Design, CAD, Machine Dynamics, Robotics and Control. He is the author of many research paper in international and national journals and a contributor to international encyclopedias. B.B. AHUJA, Ph.D., is Dean (R&D), and Head of Production Engineering Department at Pune Institute of Engineering and Technology. He is credited with the establishment of CAD/CAM laboratory and indigenously developed FMS laboratory in the institute. A member of Institution of Engineers (India), Computer Society of India, Operations Research Society of India, and Association of Mechanism and Machines, Professor Ahuja has published a large number of papers in national and international journals and has authored two books. He was awarded the Institution of Engineers Gold Medal for his research paper. His special areas of interest include Tribology, CIM, and Robotics.
