Fundamentals of Medical Image Processing Using MATLAB presents basic image processing concepts and methodologies for better understanding and more meaningful retrieval of information of the internal structure of human organs. Dwijesh Kumar Dutta Majumder Ph.D., was an Emeritus Professor in the Computer and Communication Sciences Division of the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) in Kolkata. He served as Head of Electronics and Communication Science Unit (ECSU), Professor-in-charge of the Physical and Earth Sciences Division and Joint Secretary and Joint Director of ISI. Prof. Majumdar has published over 500 research papers and several books. Dipankar Ray, Ph.D., worked as Assistant Systems Engineer at the Computer Centre, Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, and earlier as a Programming Assistant in the Computer Centre of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. He has been working in the area of medical image processing for the last fifteen years and has done extensive work on image processing, graphics, and numerical and statistical programming. He has authored thirty research publications in reputed journals and conferences.
