Spencer L. Seager retired from Weber State University in 2013 after serving for 52 years as a faculty member of the chemistry department. He served as department chairman from 1969 until 1993 and taught general and physical chemistry at the university. Dr. Seager was also active in projects to help improve chemistry and other science education in local elementary schools. He received his B.S. in chemistry and Ph.D. in physical chemistry from the University of Utah. Spencer L. Dr. Seager was also active in projects to help improve chemistry and other science education in local elementary schools. He received his B.S. in chemistry and Ph.D. in physical chemistry from the University of Utah. Tiffiny D. Rye-McCurdy is the Administrative Manager of the Academic Success Center and a lecturer in chemistry at The Ohio State University at Marion. The aim of her hybrid position is to offer assistance in learning the concepts of chemistry and biology both within and outside the classroom. Dr. Rye-McCurdy currently has a rotational schedule teaching GOB chemistry, general chemistry and organic chemistry. Prior to this position she taught biochemistry and introductory biology and physiology courses. She received her B.A. in ACS certified biochemistry from Ohio Wesleyan University and received her Ph.D. from The Ohio State University Biochemistry program under the mentorship of Dr. Karin Musier-Forstyh, where she studied the mechanisms of retrovirology (predominately Rous sarcoma virus and HIV). Dr. Rye-McCurdy is involved in community outreach as the co-coordinator of Ohio State Marion�s science and engineering camps for high school and middle school students, and as the co-coordinator of the Marion Area Science and Engineering Fair Ryan J. Yoder is an associate professor at The Ohio State University, serving the regional campus in Marion, OH. Dr. Yoder previously taught GOB chemistry at Marion before joining the full-time faculty in 2013. He currently teaches organic chemistry lecture and laboratory courses in addition to serving the campus and university community. He received his B.A. in chemistry from Ohio Wesleyan University and received his Ph.D. from The Ohio State University under the mentorship of Dr. Christopher Hadad, where he studied computational modeling and organic chemistry. Dr. Yoder mentors undergraduate research students at Marion and Columbus, examining protein-ligand interactions towards therapeutics against threats from chemical weapons and cancer. As a passionate teacher, Dr. Yoder additionally pursues interests in chemical education research. He lives with his wife and two children where he enjoys family time, travel, cooking, golfing, and following sports from around the world.
