Overview

FES-cycling is an emergent technology for physical rehabilitation, however the technical knowledge for clinical practice (clinical guidance) and equipment operation is not widespread. Thousands of scientific articles about FES-cycling have been published since 1980’s decade, but not a single book. This is the first book for FES-cycling use in clinical practice. It will enable healthcare professionals to optimize their patients’ rehabilitation, using a very promising technology for evaluation and treatment. Author Information

Murillo Frazão PT Physical Therapist at the Lauro Wanderley University Hospital in Brazil and specialist in Respiratory and Cardiovascular Physiotherapy certified by the Brazilian Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy Association. He holds postgraduate degrees in Pneumofunctional Physiotherapy from the University of Brasília, in Cardiac Rehabilitation from Gama Filho University, and in Biomedical Engineering from Unyleya. He earned a master’s degree in Physical Theraphy from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte and a doctorate in Physical Education from the Federal University of Paraíba. He later completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Health Sciences and Technologies at the University of Brasília. In addition to his academic and clinical background, Dr. Frazão serves as a technical advisor for the development of FES-cycling equipment.
