Fumbling Forward: Strange Stories & Life Lessons For Creating a Career That Sucks Less

Overview

This is a book for anyone who still isn't sure how to answer the question, ""What do you want to be when you grow up?"" no matter how old you are. Think of it as part memoir and part career how-to with a big 'ol heaping of humor told in five parts: Eating Sh!t (working in customer service) Studying Hard (working through college) Flying Solo (working as a freelancer) Teaming Up (working with business partners) $elling Out (working in corporate America) In the following pages, you'll find strange stories that range from the mundane (bagging groceries in suburban hell) to the insane (firing God as a freelance client) and everything in between. But that's not all! At the end of each story, I've made things easier by including mistakes I made, lessons I learned, and questions that you can ask yourself to (hopefully) help you create a career that sucks less. Buckle up, because you're about to learn what it looks like when you fumble forward through a career and live to tell the tale.

Author Information

Billy Frazier is not a life coach, self-help guru, or best-selling author (yet). He is, however, a principal experience designer, writer, and leader who has fumbled forward through a creative career and enjoys helping others do the same. Over the past 15 years, Billy has explored the unholy trinity of tech by way of freelancing, founding companies, and full-time consulting, and his clients have included Fortune 500 companies, design agencies, marketing firms, startups, and nonprofits across all industries. When he's not traveling, you can find him futzing around a local coffee shop in St. Louis, Missouri, where he also moonlights as a beatboxer in One Too Many A Cappella.
