(Revelation 1:3;KIV) Dr, Eric D. Simms, Sr." Author Information"When I was a little boy about 7 or 8, my brothers and I would spend weekends with our Uncle and Aunt and our first cousin who was about our age. The only requirement was we had to go to Sunday school and church. On Saturday my Uncle Albert Gurley would study his Sunday school lesson with his friend. Uncle Albert was a Sunday school teacher and he would make the lesson come alive. I would act like I was watching television, but he knew I was listening. To hear him tell the stories would fascinate me. My father and mother, Nathanial and Gloria Postel, carryied the family to church, but after growing up, I went my own way. I was always empty on the inside and after years of searching, I found what I was missing - God on the inside. God would give me an appetite for His Word. I went to seminars and took classes on Bible subjects. Taught Sunday School at New Anointing Pure Holiness Church of God and was a faithful Bible Study class member, a Deacon in the church and Chairman of the Finance Committee. I graduated from Howard High School in 1972, served in the U.S.Air Force, married the love of my life Garaldine in 1986, and am father of 5 with 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandsons. I retired from T.V.A. Sequoyah Nuclear Plant after 36 years of service. Doug Brock, who illustrated this book, was my friend throughout that time. Every mistake I've made is what made me. Sometimes it is hard to completely surrender, but my prayer is GOD let Your will be done in my life because You so love me beyond my understanding, and You know what's best for me. God continue to lead and guide me, push and pull me, keep me and strengthen me, and give me an overflow of Your Holy Spirit of promise. I have known Joe for forty years. My dad used to tell me if I got through life with a handful of friends, I would be a lucky man. Knowing Joe has been a blessing to me and Karen, my sweet wife for thirty years. Joe and I worked together at the power plant for many years. When I left to pursue another career, we remained friends, even when Karen and I moved to Stevenson, Alabama. I have been interested in art ever since I can remember. I bet I drew a million ka-zillion cartoons during my work life. I was always telling Joe about pictures I was painting for this person or that person. Forty years I drew and painted with Joe always hearing about it, and he never asked me to make him a single sketch. A little over a year ago he asked me to illustrate his book. I was honored. I reminded him how he never asked me to draw anything is forty years friendship. All he said was, ""Maybe God just had it planned out this way."" Neither one of us realized how big a project we were committing to, and I am happy to say I loved every minute of it. I am sixty-five years old and met Jesus when I was in the 9th grade at Elbert Long Jr. High School in Chattanooga. I drifted off the narrow path many times, but God never gave up on me, and I am trying to live as God wants me to live.
