The content is divided into three parts; in the first, the author reviews the concepts of primatology, evolution, and the power relations between living beings; in the second, the evolution of human societies and the foundations of conservatism and liberalism, are unpacked, which leads him to propose his ""evolutionary theory of politics"". The book closes with the analysis of multiple current events and raises some predictions about the global political environment.

Juan Manuel Muñoz, born in Panama City, Panama, is a physician, political scientist, futurist, business administrator, musician, and social activist in the areas of human rights, pacifism, and a movement toward a sustainable environment. He began his participation as social activist during his medical studies at the University of Panama, which led him to sit on the executive board of the International Federation of Medical Students Associations (IFMSA). The current political uncertainty, along with fast-paced political changes, led Muñoz to publish multiple opinion articles in local newspapers, and finally to write From Primates to Politicians. He is also the author of Revolution.
