Following in the spirit of ""From There to Here: An Alphabet Memoir,"" Patricia Ross' second book, ""From Here to Beyond"" continues to add to the original memoir with short pieces which include deeper levels of feelings and thoughts, beliefs and opinions. These short pieces, not organized in any sequential way like the first book, offer a more varied and nuanced version of someone who has lived a long and thoughtful life, and has arrived at what Erik Erikson would call the eighth and final developmental stage, the stage in which the task is Integration. Judging from Patricia's own assessment of awarding herself a ""5-Star Life"" one could say that the task has been met successfully. Reading these stories of Patricia's life experiences of vulnerability and courage, readers are inspired to consider their own stories with greater kindness, curiosity, and compassion.
