A humorous account of a clutch of Great Horned Owls from hatch to fledge. The book explains many facts about the life of Great Horned Owls, including their eating and hunting habits. It also describes the developmental stages the owls go through on their way to adulthood. There are many photos documenting the development of the chicks. The book also follows the introduction of an orphaned owlet into this nest and how the owl family coped with the new addition. Half of the proceeds from the sale of this book will go to the Arizona Raptor Center to help support their work in rehabilitation and rehoming of injured, orphaned or poisoned raptors. Every now and then, one of the owls would return, scratch around the nest floor, bite at the tree, and mutter in soft little grunts as though considering the arrangement. But the pair never committed to the whole nesting thing, and for two seasons the nest remained frustratingly vacant...
