OverviewThis pioneering history is a comprehensive account of how Australian Baptists have engaged in global mission. From the early group of women missionaries who came to be known as the 'Five barley loaves', the story has embraced long years of service in the Indian sub-continent and subsequent mission work in other countries. In 1913 the colonial missions formed a federal body which is now known as Global Interaction. Since World War II Australian Baptists have worked in Papua New Guinea and East Indonesia, and later developed work in Africa, Thailand and beyond. Recent mission among Indigenous Australians is included and changing missiological practices are analysed. The contributors are mostly former Global Interaction staff and the result is a scholarly and inspiring account of a significant Australian mission agency.
