From Egglace to Mouseball: Poems by Animal Fathers

Overview

What's it like to be an animal dad? Well... It can be unpredictable, freezing, hungry, tiring, lazy, daring, weird, lonely, and definitely gross. With a darkly comic style and irreverent wordplay similar to Shel Silverstein, Roald Dahl, and Edward Gorey, nine dads of different species tell-all, from the gruesome to the gleeful. Funny (yet educational) full-color illustrations throughout complement their zany tales. You'll never look at animals-- or fathers-- the same! Includes resources and a glossary to encourage further learning. Targeted to children but also a perfect gift for dads.

Author Information

Elizabeth Bayer Gillingham spends approximately sixty percent of her waking hours reading, writing, or making art and twenty percent enjoying nature. The remaining twenty percent, ideally, involves her family and cat. If it were up to her cat, one hundred percent of her waking hours would be spent sitting in a particular rocking chair. Then she would be doing something truly useful: providing a lap. This is her first book.
