OverviewFrom Despair to Hope and Back is a manifesto about Israel discriminating against its Holocaust survivors; these citizens are obliged to pay two kinds of taxes: 1) Their income tax, like the rest of their compatriots, plus 2) A significant part of their German compensation for their suffering during the Nazi regime. According to a report by the Dorner State Commission, issued in 2008, the extra tax taken from our survivors' money added up, at the time to 1.3-2.2 MILLION NIS PER SURVIVOR.
