In the second part, what is learned from exploring biblical animals is applied specifically to Shelbydog, the author's deceased pet; he demonstrates how his dog was a theophany, a manifestation of God, how she and he connected spiritually, and how she nourished his spirituality. Family pets not only represent spiritual biblical evolution, but they can help the readers who own one understand the spiritual connection they share with their pet. The book ends with reflections on animals and saints who connected spiritually with specific animals, plus a few words on modern whisperers who are able to connect spiritually with animals today. Author Information

Mark G. Boyer, a well-known spiritual master and retired New Testament professor, has been writing books on biblical, liturgical, and devotional spirituality for more than fifty years. He has authored eighty-seven previous books, including two books of history, a trilogy of Shelbydog Chronicles, a book of poetry, a memoir, and three books on John Denver. This, his eighty-eighth book, is his forty-seventh Wipf & Stock title.
