Overview

Rev. DeVeaux presents a timely read for pastors and their congregation. He reminds some and informs others that the Black church, if it is to be effective, must offer not only salvation for lost souls, but also address the social ills that affect its community. He has taken it upon himself to assist congregations in understanding the Christian imperative. The work done at HBC can serve as a template for others who seek to move their faith community into the community outside the four walls of the church. Rev. DeVeaux offers some powerful suggestions that will bless the lives of Pastors, lay leaders, Christian educators, and young people while also providing one pathway toward restoring social justice in the African-American church in the 21st century.
