Overview

Finally in print - a genre-defying post-YA masterpiece from two of comics most acclaimed talents! A young adult detective hero finally grows up, in the first volume of this new hit series from award-winning creators Ed Brubaker (Reckless, PULP, Kill or be Killed) and Marcos Martin (The Private Eye, Daredevil), with brilliant colors by Muntsa Vicente. Friday Fitzhugh spent her childhood solving crimes and digging up occult secrets with her best friend Lancelot Jones, the smartest boy in the world. But that was the past, now she's in college, starting a new life on her own. Except when Friday comes home for the holidays, she's immediately pulled back into Lance's orbit and finds that something very strange and dangerous is happening in their little New England town... This is literally the Christmas vacation from Hell and neither of them may survive to see the New Year.

Brubaker's (Cruel Summer) slow-burn pacing intensifies the story's mysteries while capably introducing the cast and town. Martin's (Barrier) French-esque, wiry line art resolves into sweeping, endless forests and all-encompassing, imposing spirits as colorist Muntsa Vicente creates striking nighttime scenes with bold, dramatic lighting. Told over three chapters, this atmospheric first installment sets up compelling sequels, with a sucker punch ending that demands follow-up. -Publishers Weekly

Marcos Martin is a Catalan comic book artist whose work at Marvel and DC includes such titles as Batgirl: Year One, Breach, Dr.Strange: The Oath, Amazing Spider-man, and Daredevil. In 2013 he founded the online platform Panel Syndicate together with writer Brian K. Vaughan and illustrator/colorist Muntsa Vicente in order to distribute their creator-owned comic, The Private Eye.
