OverviewAdventures might be exciting, but they can be sort of scary too. And for Frey the Vizsla puppy, the first day of kindergarten is a BIG adventure indeed! He was looking forward to meeting new puppies, making new friends, and learning all sorts of cool things about the world. But his tummy was also rumbling nervously... At first, kindergarten seemed great. The welcome he received from the other excited puppies was wonderfully warm. Unfortunately, with all the snow on the ground, Frey was soon FREEZING! One of the other puppies laughed at him, but he had to go inside to warm up ... while his new friends continued playing outside without him. It wasn't fair! The cold didn't seem to bother them at all. He didn't know why he found it so much colder than they did, but he knew one thing for sure: He didn't want to go to kindergarten anymore! After school, when Frey's mom asks him why he is so upset, he tells her the truth about being made fun of and feeling different. But as he describes some of the other puppies he's met-one a Bernese mountain dog, and another an Alaskan malamute-his mother knows exactly what has happened and how to help. Hopefully by learning more about dog breeds, Frey will be excited to tackle his second day in kindergarten! For Children 3-7. Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationWith a Master of Library and Information Science degree, author Oksana Moshynska spent several years working in public libraries, where she came to appreciate the sort of magic that happens in a room full of children when a story is being shared. She hopes that Frey Goes to Kindergarten, her first book, will inspire similar magic. Over the last ten years, after earning a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences, Oksana's deep love of animals, and fascination with Vizslas in particular, has led to her emersion in an expansive community of dog enthusiasts, raising and training Vizslas, and competing them in various performance sports, even while volunteering with a number of dog-related organizations that work to improve the wellbeing of our canine companions. Oksana currently lives with her husband, mother, and three Vizslas on an acreage near Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, visited often by her son, daughter-in-law, and two young grandchildren. When she's not writing, researching historical archives, or working with her dogs, she likes taking long walks with them, enjoying (and recording) the sights and sounds of the forest.
