Reviews

This book is a lively, engaging, original account of several themes in the relationship between psychoanalytic technique, and the theory of art. - Susan Budd, Member, The British Psychoanalytical Society Many psychotherapists dabble in one or other of the arts, but few of us show the command of two disciplines that Sayers displays in this rich and thoughtful book. Highly recommended. - Brendan McMahon, Mental Health Today, December 2007 In Freud's Art: Psychoanalysis Retold, Janet Sayers has produced a highly readable and fascinating book which contributes to an historical understanding of Art Therapy by demonstrating that creativity, imagination and the visual arts have played a complementary role to that of verbal language within the development of psychoanalysis. - Jamie Bird, BAAT: Newsbriefing, Spring 2009
