Prof. Volakis has published 230 refereed journal articles, nearly 350 conference papers and 10 book chapters. He co-authored 2 other books: Approximate Boundary Conditions in Electromagnetics (Institution of Electrical Engineers, London, 1995), Finite Element Method for Electromagnetics (IEEE Press, New York, 1998). In recent years, he has been listed by ISI as one among the most referenced authors in computer science/engineering. He graduated/mentored nearly 50 Ph.D. students/post-docs, and co-authored with them 5 best paper awards at conferences.
