Lit. of Oxford, England. He taught successively at Rhodes University, South Africa, Oxford University, and Princeton University. He has written over 30 books, including two published by Peter Lang: The Worship of the American Puritans (1990) and The Vigilant God (1992). He is best known for his three-volume work, Worship and Theology in England (1996). Marie-Helene Davies, with a Doctorate from the Sorbonne, has taught at the University of Nanterre, as well as in schools in the United States. She is currently teaching at the College of New Jersey, and has written two books: Reflections of Renaissance England (1986), and Laughter in a Genevan Gown (1983).
