Freedom in Christ, Vol. II

Overview

Freedom in Christ tells the struggles of St. Pio of Pietrelcina. St. Pio was recently Canonized in the Year 2000 by the late John Paul II. St. Pio struggled for fifty years as a Capuchin priest bearing the physical wounds of Jesus Christ. This book comments on those first years of his entrance into religions life. Freedom in Christ follows St Pio of Pietrelcina letter by letter as he dialogues openly with his Spiritual Directors about his struggle with grace and freedom. Freedom in Christ picks up where Volume, 'The Vision' left off. This episode leads upto his stigmatization-the first few years of his priesthood in the Capuchin order. [ Later Volumes will follow on his Spiritual Itinerary well documented by his Letters to his Spiritual Directors.] The source of this commentary is a deep study of the man behind the letters and what it took to daily choose to follow the path God had chosen for him to follow. Freedom in Christ seeks to portray St. Pio not so much as a Victim Priest, which he was, but as a simple and faithful religious seeking to say 'Yes' to God. Like all Christians who live sincere and humble lives for Christ, they too, seek a way to constantly say 'Yes' to Christ. St. Pio's example will always be for many inside and outside the Church a model of generous and simple self-gift to God in the footsteps of Christ. Freedom in Christ seeks to show how this is possible for every Christian who make a principle of living their freedom in the world and one that expresses the Gospel message.
