OverviewFree Speed is coach Paul Eaglestone's breakthrough training method that combines efficient swimming technique with a pace-setting formula to achieve faster triathlons. It's perfect for the triathlete or competitive swimmer. The idea behind Paul's innovative training system is loosely based on ultra short-race pace training, but with fewer sets, and maintaining effort levels rather than working at constant maximum effort. By measuring efficiency through stroke count against time-specific goals and with Paul's swimming technique - including better muscle performance - the triathlete can preserve energy for the cycling and running legs of the triathlon without sacrificing pace in the water. His method brings a cycling mentality to swimming through hydrodynamics, attention to detail, and marginal gains through mental training. With this book, the triathlete or swimmer will train and practice using the best swim technique improve pace over short distances using Paul's 17/20 method; progress to race distance without sacrificing form or speed; understand every aspect of triathlon swimming, including basic equipment, race planning, opener water swimming, starts and turns, and more; have the tools to design their own training sessions based on their own specific goals and targets; and get the most out of each training session. Paul has helped me from being a competitive regional athlete to competing at a Junior Elite level within triathlon.” –Dan Pinn, 8th in 2017 European Duathlon championships “From Olympians to amateurs, under Paul we all succeed. Under Paul, I went from top 20 to top 5 in the London triathlon T3 series.” –Matt Maginn, Regional triathlon academy squad 2015-18 “Over 2 years with Paul as my coach I not only continued to swim good PBs in the pool, I also developed my ability to swim efficiently and effectively in open water, and pool swimming, for triathlon. This has been achieved with swimming approximately half the swim training hours that I was doing previously, which allowed me to train more effectively for the other triathlon disciplines. Paul’s coaching completely changed my perspectives of swimming for the better, and I've not looked back since!” –Michael Eagling, Elite junior triathlete and British Triathlon Super Series; national master swimming ""Paul has an infectious interest in making people swim faster, not through complex training but by taking a commonsense approach."" -Dan Duran, master swimmer/triathlete "" A one-of-a-kind method, from a one-of-a-kind coach.
